Gymnasts from the Queen City Kinsmen showed they can compete with the best in their categories at the 2003 Canadian Gymnastics Championships held May 18-24 in Saskatoon.
Stacie Hogan won 3 medals in the Open Women's category including gold on Floor Exercise, silver on Vault and bronze on Balance Beam. Currently in grade 12, Stacie will be attending Towson College near Baltimore on a 4 year gymnastics scholarship this fall.
Megan Halback and Laura Sims, also in the Open category, qualified for the finals in Uneven Bars and Balance Beam respectively, each placing 13th. The were 65 competitors in the Open division.
Dexter Tantardini placed 7th overall in the men's Level 5 category. He earned a bronze medal on Horizontal Bar and finished 6th on Parallel Bars.
David Williams, also in men's Level 5, placed a respectible 23rd All Around out of 37 gymnasts.
Tyler Cove placed 19th out of 31 gymnasts in the men's Level 6 competition.
Zachary Lang was 3rd all around in the men's HP Argo division, getting a silver medal on Parallel Bars, bronze on Rings and ribbons for 5th place in both Pommel Horse and Horizontal Bar.
Geoffry Hughes, another HP Argo, placed 13th All Around out of 35 gymnasts)and scored over 9 on 5 of his 12 events.
